TL;DR:

Usually, the summary is only available to our premium subscribers, but this episode is special. The audio version is still only available for those who support us 🖤.

From the business side, the ultimate community is the fandom where people stick around, buy stuff and share the content via their social channels. But somehow fandoms build-up mostly around cultural or obscure things.

Georgie insists that it is how humans operate - we geek out on stuff and gather around people who happen to be passionate about the same phenomena. So it is normal to have emotional connections to imaginary personalities of your favorite creators, artists or public personas and Taylor Swift’s team has mastered sales and marketing to benefit from these connections, the the fandom.

Lera and I find ourselves in an uncomfortable position - are we doing something similar too? Yes, but not in a creepy way, since we’re very upfront with how we operate, what comes at premium, what is paid, etc.

This is the last episode with a guest this year, but we will do a special or two in the Ohayo podcast fashion but about The Communities Show to reflect on the year and what we’re doing next.

We build online communities on Discord

Lera and I build communities for businesses on Discord. We build, design, teach your community managers and explain to the bosses what, why and how the community affects the bottom line.

Working with Lera and me is like having an on-demand Chief Community Officer 🥰 : you need to build the strategy and reshape it once or twice a year, this is when you summon us and then we f. off until you need us again. Magic ✨
